Many of you may not have had art lessons at all in your previous school, although some may have been lucky enough to get a regular opportunity to be creative. Art in Year Seven is about making marks and learning how to express yourself. Along the way we will work with you to help you to figure out your strengths and where you need to develop your skills.

independent enquiry
Each half term you be set an independent enquiry task. You will read about a style of art, from one of our Art History Sheets, and then conduct your own research before creating an original piece of art in that style.

- Follow your Art Department on Instagram - @thisisfsdartanddesign
- Follow your Art Department on Twitter - @fsdartanddesign
- Choose a piece of work by your favourite artist and use this sheet to help you analyse it - present your work as a Powerpoint and email it to your teacher
- Teach a technique or skill you have learned in class to someone at home - ask them to evaluate their work the same way we do in class
- Set up a still life at home and produce a high quality observational drawing using pencil, pen or any other media you are comfortable using
literacy in art and design
In class we will be sharing our keywords with you to develop you art vocabulary. We also expect you to read about art in your own time away from class and will regularly give you interesting and informative things to read. You can also find books in D6 and the school library.
