Your first project this year will revisit skills you developed during Year Seven. The main difference this year is that in Year Eight the projects are longer - giving us more time to explore techniques and create a more personal response.
what you will learn
- How artists use tools and techniques to help them get proportions accurate.
- How important it is to research, experiment and sketch out ideas before making a final response.
- Why artists need to generate a range of ideas before deciding on which one to develop further.
- How to feel confident and comfortable when talking about your own ideas and work.
key words and terms
- VALUE - Degrees of lightness and darkness. The difference between values is called value contrast.
- PROPORTION - The relative size of an element in an artwork, compared to another element of the same object. It is very similar to a scale, but scale describes the ratio in size of whole objects in relation to other objects.
- COMPOSITION - The way in which different elements of an artwork are combined. In general, this refers to the key subjects of the artwork.
- TEXTURE - Describes the 'feel' of an actual surface. This can be real or implied.
- FORM - Objects that are three-dimensional; they have length, width and height. They can be viewed from many sides and take up space and volume.

example work
It's always good to see examples of successful work so you can see the standard we expect. As this is a new project this year examples will appear here when work has been assessed.
